The Adult Services Department at the Gates Public Library has materials for all types of readers from print materials to Books on CD to MP3 Playaways. We have books for everyone - from popular fiction to classics to Large Print to cookbooks to car manuals to historical materials. We offer Reader's Advisory services, booklists, and monthly displays highlighting relevant and topical materials. The Gates Public Library also has a robust Local History collection with access to on our public computers. 


The Children's Department is a warm and welcoming area for children, their caregivers, teachers, day care providers, and anyone who is interested in children's literature. We have an extensive collection of materials for children from birth to age 12 and their caregivers. Our space features a number of puzzles, blocks, and other manipulative and imaginative toys. Our aim is to offer such a comfortable and fun environment that no one wants to leave!

Teen & Tween

The Teen & Tween area is located on the second floor of the library. Whether you love to read, play video games, or simply hang out, this space is dedicated to serving tweens and teens (grades 6th through 12th). Come and enjoy this area to meet friends, relax with a book, do homework, play games and be creative. We have a large selection of books, audiobooks, graphic novels, college information, and magazines. Added bonus – we have a drawing window, too! There are also computer stations and gaming stations specifically dedicated for use by our teens and tweens. We also offer a wide range of programs generously funded by the Friends of the Gates Public Library.
