JUNIOR FRIENDS
Tuesdays: 3:30-5:00 p.m. Ages
9-16
Join the Junior Friends of the Gates Public Library. Junior Friends
are a group of volunteers who meet year-round and help the library
with different activities and fund raisers such as: book sales, parties,
bulletin board displays and many more exciting things. We also get
involved with community service activities. Meetings are held on the second Tuesday
of each month. Come join the group for a good time, you’ll be
glad that you did.
TEEN BOOK REVIEWS
Are you
an avid reader? Do you want to share your thoughts and comments about
books with others? If so, then check out the newly created Teen Book
Review Blog at:

Blog in the subject line.) or by dropping off your review at the library. There
will be a drop-off box in the Young Adult Fiction area as well as forms to
use.
DDR – DANCE DANCE REVOLUTION*

DDR is
a video game that you play using your feet and quick wits. There are
two dance pads so that two people can compete at a time. Go against
your friends or try to keep up with a librarian! Make sure you have
fresh, clean socks on because there is no shoe, no stinky sock rule while
playing. Gates residents may begin registering on December 6 and non-Gates
residents on December 20. Program size is limited to 20 people.
ROCK PAINTING*

Let
your creativity and imagination soar! We’ll be painting rocks
and then turning them into fridge magnets, or jewelry, or just plain paperweights.
All material will be provided. Registration is required. Gates
residents may begin registering on December 26 and non-Gates residents on
January 8. Class size is limited to 20 people.
NO SEW DENIM PURSE*

Make
a really cool purse from an old pair of jeans! You will need to bring
with you a denim pant leg (adult or child size) about 15” in length. All
other materials will be provided free of charge. Registration for this
program begins February 23 for Gates residents and March 9 for non-Gates
residents. Class size is limited to 15 people.
DUCT TAPE WALLETS*

Create
a unique wallet made completely out of duct tape! Jen Barth, from the
Irondequoit Public Library, will show you how. All materials will be
provided for this fun program. Registration is required. Gates residents
may begin registering on March 14 and non-Gates residents on April 4. Class
size is limited to 15 people.
T-SHIRT PAINTING*

It’s
the Gates Public Library’s annual t-shirt decorating program. All
you need to bring is a plain-colored, pre-washed t-shirt to decorate. All
other materials will be provided. Registration for this fun program
begins June 6 for Gates residents and June 20 for non-Gates residents. Class
size is limited to 15 people.
