Need something for your reading enjoyment?
- Teen Fiction: available in both paperback and hardcover, with a special section devoted to NEW teen hardcover fiction.
- Graphic Novels: ever increasing in size, we have something for just about everyone. We have many of the popular Manga series too.
- Teen Non-Fiction: something for just about every interest from “A to Z” with an extensive sports book collection, car repair manuals and self-help books ranging from coping with parents to perfecting your appearance.
- Teen Magazines: we have many of the popular titles including: Mad, Anime and Wrestler.
Need to use the Internet?
The Gates Public Library currently has 9 Internet terminals. All you need to use them is your library card. Black and white and color printing are available for a nominal fee per page. Coming in 2007, wireless access to the Internet.
Need something for your listening enjoyment?
- Audio Materials: choose from a large variety of compact discs, cassettes and yes, even a handful of older LPs. We have a substantial collection of books on CD and cassette too. The Rolling Stones Top 50 List is on display with albums owned and on-order marked.
Need something for you viewing enjoyment?
- DVDs and Video Cassettes: a large variety of feature films and documentary and non-fiction titles. All you need is your library card to borrow these items. Your suggestions on items to purchase are always welcome too.
Need information on a college?
- College and University Guides: obtain information on the college or university of your choice. We have guides available in our reference collection and for borrowing. You can also access information on the Internet.
- Financial Assistance Forms: FAFSA, FAFSA on the Web and other information and brochures to guide you.
- College Catalogs: a variety of local college catalogs available at the reference desk. (For in-house use only.)
Need information on a career or job?
- Job/Career Center: a special collection of books pertaining to jobs and careers. Also extensive information on creating resumes and interviewing.
- Civil Service Postings: up to date civil service job announcements and a variety of books to help you study for them.
Need to use a word processor?
- IBM Compatible Computers: we have two computers that you can use to type up assignments or create resumes. Both have Internet access so you can e-mail assignments or resumes also. Sign up using your library card.
Need help with a homework assignment?
A reference librarian is on duty at all times and always willing to help. Or pick up a copy of the Tough School Project Driving You Crazy brochure for tips on how to tackle your specific problem.
Need something to do in your spare time?
- Teen Programs: specially designed programs offered throughout the year for teens. Refer to the Programs for Teens brochure for more information.
- Junior Friends Group: an energetic group of teen volunteers. Registration forms available at the library.
- Summer Reading: a summer program set up especially for teens. Look for details in the Spring/Summer brochure for teens.
