Services to Shut-ins
The Gates Public Library, in partnership
with The Friends of the Gates Public Library, is offering a new service to
bring library materials to Gates residents who cannot get to the library.
Library materials available to shut-ins
Books
The Gates Public Library carries a wide selection of books, including
fiction, nonfiction and biography, in both regular and Large Print formats.
Books on cassette
Whether you're in the mood for a classic novel, a modern thriller or
a nonfiction subject, the Gates Public Library has a book-on-cassette for
you.
Media
The Gates Public Library carries a variety of cassettes and compact discs
for your listening pleasure.
New or heavily reserved materials are not available via shut-in delivery
service.
How do I sign up for this service?
To sign up for shut-in service you can either email
Nancy Blanda or call her at 247-6446. We will then send you an
introductory letter and a survey of your reading and listening interests. Once
you return that form the Friends of the Gates Public Library will contact
you to arrange a delivery date and time.
Who will deliver my materials?
A volunteer from the Friends of the Gates Public Library will deliver
materials once or twice a month on a regular schedule convenient to you.
How long can I keep these materials?
Delivery will be either once or twice a month, as you prefer. You
may keep items an additional delivery period if you need time to finish them.
How many items may I borrow?
You may borrow up to 5 items each delivery period.
Who are the Friends of the Gates Public Library?
Approximately 160 families and individuals who believe the library is
a valuable asset deserving special support. Evidence of the Gates Public
Library's regional appeal is that thirty percent of these Friends reside
outside the town of Gates.
