Electronic Books

Gates Public Library offers two different models of e-book readers for loan.  Choose from any of five Rocket or two SoftBook versions.  There are several titles available for each.

	ROCKET eBOOK Weight: 22 oz. Storage capacity: 4,000 pages (equal to 8-10 paperbacks) Screen size: 3 1/2"x5 1/2" Battery or A/C adapter Built in dictionary (optional)
	SOFTBOOK Weight: 2.9 lb.   Storage capacity: 5,000 pages Screen size: 6" x 8" Battery or A/C adapter

These portable readers offer you the ability to have many titles in one compact package!  Other features include:

• Backlighting-now you can read in bed with the light off, or in the car while traveling at night!
• Adjustable font size-reduce eye strain!
• Bookmarks & automatic return to the last page read-no more losing your place!
• Highlighting & underlining text-won't ruin the book, because it's completely erasable!

Loan Policies

• Can only be borrowed and returned at the Fairport, Henrietta and Gates Public Libraries
• Are available for loan to all county residents with valid MCLS library card
• Are not available for electronic holds at this time
• Circulate for 3 weeks and are not renewable
• Cannot be returned in overnight returns/bookdrops
• Have a daily fine of $2 to a maximum of $24. Replacement cost of either $200 (Rocket eBook) or $600 (Softbook) if lost or damaged beyond repair.
• Must have all items loaned to customer returned with e-book.  Those items will include e-book reader, carrying case, stylus, A/C adapter, cleaning cloth, instruction booklet and Friends bag.

E-book readers have been made available through LSTA grant funding.
