Digital Audio Books and Players
The Gates Public Library is pleased to introduce the addition of digital audio books! Like books-on-cassettes and books-on-CD, these are recordings of books read by a narrator. The Library will circulate five Diamond Rio 500 players to listen to your selected titles. We will also provide headphones, carrying case, user's guide and cassette adapter.You may choose from a variety of titles, which will be loaded onto the player by the Library staff. A player will usually hold between 1-4 different titles, depending on the books' size (approximately 28 hours' worth of content). Titles are being purchased from Audible.com. Feel free to explore this company's website to learn more. If you are interested in any of the titles not provided by the Gates Public Library, please contact Melissa McHenry, Media Services Librarian.
Loan policies
- Must be borrowed and returned to the Gates Public Library
- Available for loan to all county residents with a valid MCLS library card
- Circulate for 3 weeks (no renewals)
- Cannot be returned in overnight returns/bookdrops
- Daily overdue fine: $1 per day (maximum $12.00). Replacement cost of $99.00 if lost or damaged beyond repair
- Must have the following items loaned to patron returned: digital audio player, headphones, carrying case, cassette adapter and user's guide
