Junior Friends Achievements 2004-JUNE 2005
- January 2004 :
Sorted through childrens’ board books and
set some aside for discard consideration (those that were shabby
and worn). With the remaining time, we washed the board books.
- February and March 2004 : No meetings
- April 2004 : Created a new Spring Bulletin Board display for the
childrens’ area.
- May 2004 : Had a brainstorming session to plan summer activities,
for the remainder of the meeting we sorted and filed date due cards.
- June/July/August 2004 : Created party games for the childrens’ End
of the Summer Reading Party. Games included: Wet Sponge Toss, Gummy
Bear Guess, Bean Bag Toss, Pin the Star on the Flag, Boat Search
and Shoebox Guessing Game.
- September 2004 : Brainstormed for Fall ideas and then sorted and
filed date due cards.
- October 2004 : Made December holiday cards for the residents of
the Westgate Nursing Home. Made a total of 127 cards. They were delivered
on a separate day.
- November 2004 : Had two meetings in November. We met on the 9
th and the 30 th. At these meetings we created ornaments for the
Gates Town Hall’s Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony. We also had
elections for new officers.
- December 2004 : Junior Friends participated in the Town Hall’s
Tree Lighting Ceremony.
- January 2005 : All members came to the meeting today. WE created
a new bulleting board display for the Childrens’ area. The
theme: snowmen carrying books heading to a library.
- February 2005 : Junior Friends decorated blown out eggs and added
them to the existing “egg tree” that is in the Childrens’ area.
We decorated the eggs with storybook characters.
- March 2005 : Junior Friends were given lists of Easter books to
pull off the shelves for a special display in the library. Many of
them had never pulled books before so it was a great learning experience
for a lot of them. We also spent part of the meeting sorting and
filing date due cards.
- April 2005 : Sorted and filed date due cards
- May 2005 : Created a “Spring into Reading” bulleting
board for the Childrens’ area. The theme: spring flowers and
shrubs.
- June 2005 : We made Happy 4 th of July cards for the residents
of the Westgate Nursing Home. 54 cards were made. They will be dropped
off later in the month.
