Book & Magazine Donation Guideline

Book sales are a source of funding for Gates Public Library. To raise money, the Friends sell materials that are in good condition. You can help us provide better book sale selections by donating only gently used materials.

We are unable to sell:
  1. Any books or items that are moldy, dusty, dirty, damaged, cut, marked up or highlighted.
  2. Encyclopedias
  3. Textbooks
  4. Newsprint, newsletters, catalogs, telephone books.
  5. Advertising literature, pamphlets, flyers or brochures or junk mail.
  6. Outdated statistical publications, especially obscure government surveys.

We can accept a maximum of 10 boxes of books per month from any individual.

If you have any items that the library cannot accept, please recycle them through the Monroe County waste paper recycling system.

When making any donations, please bring your items to the front desk. Please limit your donation to 12 National Geographic or 12 Readers Digest condensed books in any given month from a single household.

If you would like assistance with unloading boxes, please telephone ahead
(247-6446).

Thank you for your cooperation.
